For many people, non-monogamy is a relationship orientation that is a core part of their identity. Many relationships thrive under various non-monogamy structures. When all partners are consenting and communicate effectively, non-monogamy can provide the opportunity for increased connection and vibrancy in a relationship/s.
Common Goals I work with related CNM include:
- Helping a couple determine if CNM is the right choice for them.
- Deciding on a relationship structure. (E.g. Polyamory, Relationship Anarchy, Swinging, Monogamish etc)
- Developing relationship agreements and boundaries.
- Jealousy: identifying the underlying feelings, experiences and needs related to jealousy. Developing coping tools for managing jealousy.
- Coming out to friends, family and community
- Unpacking cultural beliefs around monogamy/non-monogamy and empowering clients to determine what they want and believe for themselves.
- Developing effective communication skills
- Time management
- Rebuilding trust after a boundary violation.
